PediaStaff Professional Development Tip: Get Yourself "Out There"

blog Back in the day (I really do hate that expression!), the only way a less experienced therapy clinician could share his or her thoughts and ideas on therapy technique, research or anything else, was to complete a peer reviewed study for a journal or get chosen for a poster presentation at ASHA. With the explosion of the internet, there are a myriad of opportunities to share your experiences, either through starting your own blog, writing guest blog articles for any one of the wonderful SLP, OT, School Psych and PT blogs out there, or even blogging through photos of activities that you have created and shared on sites like Instagram. While these articles and photo shares may not have the “panache” of a published peer reviewed journal piece, we highly recommend adding information and links to and about this sharing and writing to a section at the bottom of your resume or CV. Initiative to write and share about your work says to a potential employer, “I am passionate about my field beyond my 9-5 job or classwork, and that makes me special!”

PediaStaff hires pediatric and school-based professionals nationwide for contract assignments of 2 to 12 months. We also help clinics, hospitals, schools, and home health agencies to find and hire these professionals directly. We work with Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational and Physical Therapists, School Psychologists, and others in pediatric therapy and education.
