ATLANTA (MyFOX ATLANTA), Most children feel a little shy around strangers sometimes, but children with Asperger's syndrome have an especially hard time socializing, even with people they know well.
Asperger's syndrome is a developmental disorder that affects a person's ability to communicate with others.
As a child, Nick Dubin was called quirky or eccentric, but it wasn't until he was much older that he understood why he had such a hard time connecting with other people.
Dubin was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome. That diagnosis helped him finally understand so much about his past and his future.
There is no cure for Asperger's syndrome, but children can learn to manage their symptoms by learning communication skills and behavior management.
