"You sound like a broken record."

"Come on, Jeremy, hurry up and say it."

Jeremy Mauch heard phrases like these and others throughout middle school and high school. He started stuttering at about 12 years old.

Now nearly 21 years old and a student at McHenry County College, he's more confident than he has ever been. And much of that has to do with the speech therapy he has received from Kevin Eldridge, a stuttering specialist in Woodstock who went into the field mainly because of his own difficulties with stuttering.

"He's proven to me that I can conquer this through hard work and perseverance," said Mauch of McHenry.
