Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant invited to join a dynamic, creative, private therapeutic day school licensed and regulated by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) that provides educational, therapeutic, and transition services to students with Special Education eligibility, in our elementary, middle, and high school program. We pride ourselves in forming lasting partnerships with:

*our students
*home school districts
*parents, families, and guardians
*outside therapeutic supports and agencies

Our multi-disciplinary team follows the guidelines set in each student’s Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) which is developed in partnership with our students, their parents, home school districts and outside therapeutic consultants as deemed appropriate.

The position is located at one school in the Lake in the Hills area and we need a COTA for about 15 hours per week for the 2022-23  school year with a strong likelihood of a contract renewal for 23-24. Caseload of kiddos is centered around those with social emotional and in some cases cognitive performance diagnoses.

All educational services meet State and Federal standards. Curriculum addresses not only academics but also:
*interpersonal relationships
*independent living
*job and life skills

We provide field trips, dances, talent shows, and sports with a high level of reassurance and support. All of our planned activities emphasize the importance of cooperative and non-conflictual problem solving.

The therapeutic staff is trained in trauma-based interventions, assisting each student in developing strategies to self-manage emotions and impulses. For some of our students, education continues beyond graduation to job placement and maintenance, with the assistance of our Transition Services staff.

The staff is passionate about their work and enjoys sharing in our students’ accomplishments. They are dedicated to providing a nurturing and safe learning environment with the ultimate goal for each student to graduate, leaving school happier, mature, more self-confident, and age-appropriate self-sufficiency skills.
