School-Based Occupational Therapist – OT
|Location :||Glendale Heights, IL|
|Salary :||$44.00 - $51.00/hour|
NEW and INTERESTING OT JOB OPPORTUNITY for a school-based Occupational Therapist!
This school year is full of opportunity for students, teachers and therapists. There’s a lot of need for extra special attention to the kiddos that missed classroom time last year. This position is a golden opportunity to be that person that gives back some of the valuable time lost in special education last year. We’re not talking about compensatory time and struggling to keep up, rather this position is a time to be hands on, at a classroom pace, to push in and help out with kids in 3 self contained classrooms: 2 elementary, 1 middle school. These are self-contained classrooms for students on the spectrum or with cognitive impairments.
*You’ll work 2-3 days per week within two schools in close proximity to one another. The frequency and duration of your time in each classroom will largely be determined by you and your partner OT in the district
*The caseload is less than 28 kids across the three classrooms
*You’ll assist with program implementation, modeling, using sensory diets, and managing some behaviors along the way
*You’ll work an opposite schedule of the district OT so that these kiddos have the help they need each day of the week
*The school’s goal is to provide an extra layer of support to these students–to get them back on track
*You’ll have the pleasure of NOT having a ton of paperwork to complete; this position is truly about support and implementation
*This position is available for the remainder of the 21-22 school year
*There’s a seasoned and strong related services team at this district
*Previous pediatric and/or school based experience required
Qualifications: You will need to hold a Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Occupational Therapy and a current state license (or be eligible for same).
