School-Based Occupational Therapist - OT - Lisle, IL

Are you in need of a part-time short term school position?  Here is a great one for you that starts in March!  This is a therapeutic day school setting for students with autism spectrum disorders at an elementary.  This position starts March 4, 2019, through the end of May in the Lisle area.  A wonderful caseload of kiddos!

*  K-8th grade
*  2 days/wk-Monday and Tuesday preferable
*  7:45 - 3:45
*  Paid lunch
*  2 classrooms/one classroom has 16 kiddos in K-4th grade-the profiles range from non-verbal, high sensory needs kiddos to verbal, beginning readers with group skills                                                                                       4 students are 4th - 8th grade and are verbal students with goals much more focused on fine motor/writing accommodations
*  Some pull out small groups, some push-in time in classrooms
*  100% autism
*  salary dependent on experience
*  No travel/one school
*  off last week of March for Spring Break 

Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide treatment, including program planning, consultation and education to the student and family in collaboration with an OTR/L
*       Liaison with team members, parents, district professionals, and others involved in the education/treatment of the student
*       Comply with the professional code of ethics and school policies
*       Maintain professional documentation including session notes and quarterly reports
*       Maintain IEP goals and reports and three-year re-evaluations in collaboration with the OTR/L
*       Maintain student files including appropriate documentation and student attendance to sessions
*       Participate in direct supervision of students and assistance with activities of daily living as needed
*       Participate in team meetings and professional development sessions
*       Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and in inclusion settings
*       Plan and provide professional development sessions for all staff
*       Work with Program Assistants to model strategies, discuss student progress, and assess student needs
*       Supervise clinical students from university programs as needed
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
*       Ability to effectively communicate assessment results, evaluations, and proposed treatment in a manner easily understood by team members, the district, and parents
*       Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders
*       Ability to treat students with autism spectrum disorders
*       Familiarity with relevant diagnostic tools and procedures
*       Knowledge of relevant occupational therapy treatment strategies and protocols
*       Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards
*       Knowledge of the use and maintenance of facilities and equipment 
*       Knowledge of sensory and behavioral strategies
*       Knowledge of child development theory
*       Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements
*       Ability to use computers (word processing software, therapeutic/educational software)
*       Knowledge of relevant equipment for occupational therapy
*       Strong written and communication skills

Qualifications: Must hold a Bachelors Degree (or higher) in Occupational Therapy and a current state license (or be eligible for same).  Autism experience preferred but not necessary.


Pay: $40-$50/hour
