Special Education Teacher - Fairbanks, AK

Unusual opportunity available in Alaska to work in a year round program serving kids in an early intervention program as part of a home education initiative. Experienced Special Education Teachers, Social Workers and Therapists are all eligible for this opening if you meet the requirements below.

* You'll be responsible for performing a range of early intervention services within the infant learning program.
* Job Responsibilities include referral, intake and screening, administration and scoring of development, evaluation and assessment tools
* You'll ensure compliance with all billing and paperwork requirements of Medicaid, Tricare and private insurance
* You'll demonstrate a family-centered philosophy and respect for cultural diversity

All of our ILP services are for birth to three years of age.  We'd like to hire one or two special education teachers with a background in early childhood education.  We have learned that it is important for the candidate to have both the special education and early childhood experience to be successful.  Most importantly, this is not a classroom position.  Our services are provided in client homes or in the community for the most part so someone with experience in home visiting would be preferred.

Our program runs year around so we don't have a break in service like a typical classroom teacher.

* You'll need to meet the requirements of the Alaska SEED Registry at the EI/ILP Level 10 Developmental Specialist II or higher
*  Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists interested in Early Intervention are also eligible for this position
*  We prefer at minimum of one year of experience working with infants/toddlers or young children

Qualifications: You will need to have an Alaska Type C Teaching Certificate and meet the SEED requirements, a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Social Work or related field with or without certification or professional License. Bachelor's, Master's or Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or Speech Language Pathology are also eligible.

This position offers an excellent benefits package with a much better than average PTO package, too. More details available at interview.
