A Genetic Link Between Anorexia and Autism? - July 3, 2009

Researchers at the Maudsley Hospital in London have been studying the commonalities between autism and anorexia for several years. Scientists there conclude that anorexia is an inheritable trait and is related to autism.

This week's issue of Time Magazine discusses the details of this research that suggests that the thinking patterns associated with both conditions — repetitive thoughts and behaviors, rigid routines and rituals, and perfectionism — may be present in the same region of the brain.
