Job Details:
- School Dates: August 18, 2025- June 16, 2026
- Setting: Elementary, primarily general education setting
- Caseload: Primarily OHI, Learning Disabilities, Autism, Language Impairment
- Small but fluid caseload, serving about 10-15 students at a time
Role Overview:
As a Special Education Teacher, you will support students with diverse learning needs by creating inclusive and personalized educational plans that help them thrive both academically and emotionally. This role offers the opportunity to work with young learners in a supportive school environment while making a lasting impact on their development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accommodate, modify and adapt lessons and curriculum as needed to meet individual student needs and IEP Goals
- Support in the facilitation of IEP meetings as well as development of the IEP
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the developmental levels and interests of their students
- Set and communicate clear expectations for classroom behavior and school environment by applying positive reinforcement and/or behavior modification techniques as needed. Assist in the development and implementation of student behavior intervention plans
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or higher in education, with a focus on special education or related field
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education
- Additional certification requirements as set by the Maryland State Department of Education
