Qualifications: 

  • Qualifications: Teacher, Infant & Itinerant DHH (Deaf & Hard of Hearing)Education Specialist Instruction Credentials 
  • Specific license  : Deaf & Hard of Hearing OR Ryan Service Credential – Communication Handicapped OR Standard Teaching Credential – Minor – Deaf & Severely Hard-of-Hearing in the state of Illinois.  
  • Sign language is not required, but a knowledge of Deaf Education is recommended.  

Role Overview:
As a Special Education Teacher, you will support students with diverse learning needs by creating inclusive and personalized educational plans that help them thrive both academically and emotionally. This role offers the opportunity to work with young learners in a supportive school environment while making a lasting impact on their development.

Job Details:   

  • Schedule: DHH teacher will service and travel between schools within district 
  • Dates:  July 31, 2025 – May 29, 2026
  • Hours:    815am – 330pm M-F with a 30 minute unpaid lunch (full time at 35 hours/week)
  • Setting:  Itinerant DHH classroom
  • Caseload: TBD
  • In-person only 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Accommodate, modify and adapt lessons and curriculum as needed to meet individual student needs and IEP Goals
  • Support in the facilitation of IEP meetings as well as development of the IEP
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the developmental levels and interests of their students
  • Set and communicate clear expectations for classroom behavior and school environment by applying positive reinforcement and/or behavior modification techniques as needed. Assist in the development and implementation of student behavior intervention plans
