Qualifications:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- A minimum of 4.0 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA)
- Previous experience in school-based interpreting preferred
Role Overview:
A school sign language interpreter facilitates communication for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in the educational environment by accurately relaying spoken language into sign language. These professionals are integral to the educational team, working within the classroom to ensure the student understands their teachers and peers
Job Details:
- Full-time, In-person only
- M-F 7:00AM – 3:30PM, 1 hour late start on Wednesdays
- Caseload: D/HH Students
Key Responsibilities:
- Translates lectures, discussions, and other spoken content into sign language for the student.
- Interpreters work closely with teachers, administrators, and other staff to support the student's educational goals.
- Advocate for the student's communication needs within the school setting.
