We're currently seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf-DHH to support approximately 10 students ranging from 1st to 12th grade.

Qualifications: 

  • Must hold Alaska state licensure and Type C certification for teaching deaf/hard of hearing students; applicants with pending licensure will also be considered with proof.
  • Proven experience working with deaf/hard of hearing students or in similar educational settings.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Flexibility to work variable hours typically between 8 AM and 4 PM.

Role Overview:
Teachers of the Hard of Hearing plan and provide learning experiences for students with disabilities, including cognitive, emotional, or physical disabilities, in a variety of educational settings. These teachers create a flexible program and learning environment that provides specialized instruction; establishes effective rapport with students; may modify general education curriculum to meet students' needs with supplemental aides, accommodations, and other needed supports; and establishes good relationships with parents and with other staff members. 

Job Details:   

  • Schedule:  37.5-40 hours per week
  • August 17, 2026 – May 28, 2027
  • Flexibility to work variable hours typically between 8 AM and 4 PM
  • In person only

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Deliver tailored instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting curriculum to meet individual needs.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and other support staff to ensure accessibility and inclusion.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining detailed records and communicating with families and educational teams.
  • Provide assistive technology support and implement strategies to enhance communication.
  • Travel onsite as required across grade levels within the school to support students effectively.
  • Work to develop teaching strategies, approaches, specialist materials and resources to support deaf pupils.
