Job Details:
- Schedule: Full-time (37.5 hrs/week)
- Setting: Elementary or High School
- School Year: August 11, 2025- May 21, 2026
Role Overview:
As a Teacher of Visually Impaired (TVI) you will have the primary responsibility of specialized instruction and services required to meet the unique educational needs of students with visual impairments. This role offers the opportunity to work with young learners in a supportive school environment while making a lasting impact on their development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized lessons tailored to each student's visual needs, including academic content, orientation and mobility skills, visual efficiency training, and adaptive technology use
- Conduct comprehensive vision assessments to determine individual needs, monitor student progress, and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
- Collaborate with other educational professionals to create and implement individualized education plans for students with vision impairments
- Teach students how to utilize assistive technologies like screen readers, magnifiers, Braille devices, and specialized software to access curriculum
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in education, with a focus on special education or related field
- Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment
- Experience working with K-12 students, particularly in inclusive settings
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop individualized education programs (IEPs)
