ASHA 2012: Traditional Networking, SLPs Teaching Others, and Yes, Even a Flash Mob!

19th November, 2012

ASHA 2012 – what a show.   PediaStaff got to meet so many of you this year and truly enjoyed  listening to stories of your kiddos’ achievements in classrooms and clinics.  We hope you enjoyed visiting with us as well and learning about what PediaStaff has to offer.
The annual ASHA Convention has always offered speech-language professionals great opportunity to engage in face to face learning, professional development and to share those inspiring stories.    This year there was also a new and exciting vibe – that of the passion of sharing, learning and making new friends through social media.
Together with about 25 active “#SLPeeps,” our mini-sessions at the PediaStaff Social Media Learning Center (and our Learning Lab too) taught dozens of you how to create a personal learning network (PLN) through Twitter, Pinterest and Blogs.
If you didn’t know who the “#SLPeeps” were before ASHA 2012, you will know about them now!  Take a look at the #SLPeeps flash mob that “spontaneously” erupted on Friday, just above the Exhibit Hall!    Based on the Carly Jepsen hit, “Call Me Maybe,” a handful of very passionate #SLPeeps, re-wrote the words, professional recorded, and created “Gangnam Style” dance steps to call (very public) attention to the joys of being part of this tightly knit (but rapidly growing) community of clinicians that share resources together online!   Great job!! Let’s hear it for “putting it all out there” for your profession and passion!

PediaStaff hires pediatric and school-based professionals nationwide for contract assignments of 2 to 12 months. We also help clinics, hospitals, schools, and home health agencies to find and hire these professionals directly. We work with Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational and Physical Therapists, School Psychologists, and others in pediatric therapy and education.
