Biden Pick for Secretary of Education Conducts Roundtable with Disability Community

This week, Dr. Miguel Cardona, President-elect Joe Biden’s nominee for Secretary of Education, conducted a virtual roundtable with members of the disability right community to learn about priorities for students with disabilities.

During the discussion, participants raised concerns about the issue of disproportionality with regards to systemic injustices suffered by students with disabilities of specific racial and ethnic groups. The group also discussed disability-specific issues and issues such as student loan forgiveness, the school-to-prison pipeline, employment opportunities, and the effect of the pandemic on students with disabilities.
