In addition to presenting career opportunities to speech-language pathologists, the staffing company will discuss interviewing skills with students in the NSSHLA Demo Lounge. Representatives from Top Echelon Contracting will also be on hand to answer therapists’ questions about contract assignments.
PediaStaff, a nationwide niche-oriented staffing company that focuses on the placement of pediatric and school-based clinicians, will once again be exhibiting at the annual American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Convention. This year’s event will be held from November 14-16 in Chicago.
This year is unique because, in addition to maintaining a regular booth at the convention, PediaStaff will be part of the NSSHLA Demo Lounge, according to PediaStaff Partner Heidi Kay. NSSHLA is the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association, an organization for students interested in speech-language careers. PediaStaff will have a table in the NSSHLA Demo Lounge for 45 minutes, during which they will discuss interview skills with the potential therapists.
As usual, social media will be a huge draw to PediaStaff’s main booth. The company has established itself as a social media authority among pediatric therapists with extensive profiles on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and particularly on Pinterest. During the ASHA Convention, they will be focusing on Instagram, showing the therapists what PediaStaff is doing on the site and how therapists can use it to enhance their professional development. Specifically, Kay, as the company’s social media expert, will discuss their hashtag projects. Hashtags are a way for social media users to easily find related information on a social network. One of PediaStaff’s current hashtag projects is encouraging school-based SLPs to post their favorite classroom Halloween projects to #favehalloweentx.
“The things we post on Instagram are images you can ‘get’ immediately upon looking at them,” she said. “You can process and absorb it in a minute. Pinterest is much more time-consuming. You need to be more proactive.”
PediaStaff’s main goal at ASHA is to discuss pediatric and school-based careers for SLPs. The recruiters will be joined by representatives from Top Echelon® Contracting (TEC). As the contract staffing back-office for PediaStaff, TEC serves as the Employer of Record for the company’s contractors. The TEC representatives will discuss with candidates the benefits they can receive while working on contract and address any other questions they may have about employment through TEC.
Kay is also excited that, in addition to the Toobaloos that PediaStaff normally hands out at conventions, they will also have the new Toobaloo Headsets available. Toobaloos are phone-like therapy tools that are used to provide auditory feedback.
“With the headsets, the kids can use them hands free for writing, and they look high-tech like what the ‘grown-ups’ wear!” Kay said.

PediaStaff hires pediatric and school-based professionals nationwide for contract assignments of 2 to 12 months. We also help clinics, hospitals, schools, and home health agencies to find and hire these professionals directly. We work with Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational and Physical Therapists, School Psychologists, and others in pediatric therapy and education.
